“La Esperanza Abandonada” is an “Ermita” that was abandoned in the middle of a beautiful mountain path in Mata Bejid, Jaén (Andalucía, Spain).
This building called in Spain “Ermita” was a present from a rich man to his beloved wife. He built it for her on their land as a religious retreat (Hermitage). Once his wife passed away, he couldn’t bare to live there anymore and left it abandoned to become a “Wild Beauty” in her honour.
